The General Cucumber
Our best-tasting slicer.
Though bred for the South, The General has also performed well in our Maine trials. Dark fruits with white spines are uniform, attractive, and average 8–8 1/2" long. Flavor is superior to most modern American slicing varieties. The gynoecious plants have a high yield potential. NOTE: This variety is gynoecious, which means it will not produce the male flowers required for pollination. Seeds of a pollenizer variety have been mixed into the seed packet at a rate of 10%. As such, it is necessary to plant all seeds in the packet to produce cucumber fruits. Also available treated.
Disease Resistance:
Cucumber Mosaic Virus (Intermediate)
Powdery Mildew (Intermediate)
Scab (High)

All organic products (OMRI listed)
We start them from Johnny Select Seeds, a high quality seed company.
We make the soil mix ourselves. It's our own blend of worm castings, vermiculite, coconut husk, Biochar, Endomycorrhizal inoculant, and symphony pelletized chicken compost. (You are not only buying a plant, but the soil block it comes in will add vitality to your garden.)
