Our Story

We’re Keith & Anna Sims. We started Sims Grown, because we believe in the joy that growing brings.

Our yard farm, less than 1/4 acre, is located in MidTown in Columbus, GA. We use the space for growing and selling plants and for feeding our family of four.

Nice to meet you! We’re Keith and Anna Sims. A little about us…

Keith, with an undergraduate degree in Biology, was on track for Physician Assistant School. Anna, a communication major, had been working in the public relations and nonprofit sector for years when we slowly started to become aware of a problem within our local community (and our larger community).

Where do we get access to local, organic food? Where does the majority of our food come from? How does this problem affect our larger climate, and how do we even begin to grow it ourselves?

Keith left his “track” toward PA school to spend a year learning from the best organic farm in our area up in Pine Mountain, Jenny Jack Farm. After a year there, he went back to MercyMed where they agreed to let him build a Farm for the clinic to help feed the underserved with quality, organic produce. He’s been serving there alongside some great folks and loving it.

Anna began moving into an entrepreneurial/freelance communication space, and together our passions have merged into Sims Grown.

We didn’t come from a family of farmers, and we certainly don’t consider ourselves experts on the subject. We’re learning every day and the more we learn, the more we realize how much more there is to learn.

So, here we are. Just a few years years of growing under our belts, but out of our small backyard, we hope to serve as a friend to growers everywhere by offering garden consultations, growing guides, & plants.

If you’ve landed here, you’re probably a lot like us. You care a lot about this community, about our environment and about the disconnect we seem to have with our food and how to grow it ourselves.

Thanks for saying yes to growing with us.
